Steve Goldberg is Senior Vice President, Underwriting and Pricing, USAA Property & Casualty Insurance Group. He is responsible for all P&C staff underwriting, competitive analysis, insurance pricing, product development and catastrophe financial management which includes assumed and ceded reinsurance.
He joined USAA in 1973 as an actuarial analyst. He graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook with a Bachelor of Science degree and received an MBA degree from Temple University in Philadelphia. He is a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society. He has also completed the Advanced Executive Education Program jointly sponsored by the Insurance Institute of America and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He has recently served as a guest speaker at a class on financial engineering at the Harvard Business School that discussed a case study on USAA's catastrophe reinsurance program.
Goldberg currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Highway Loss Data Institute as well as the Wharton School Managing Catastrophe Risks Project. He has been a member of the Insurance Project Workshop at the National Bureau of Economic Research. He has also served as a business moderator at the annual meeting of the International Insurance Society. He was the keynote speaker at the Texas Chapter of the Insurance Accounting and Statistical Association as well as a panelist at the annual meeting of the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters (CPCU). He recently completed several years of service on the boards of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and the San Antonio Symphony. He worked on development efforts to establish a Challenger Learning Center in San Antonio.
