Big Government Republicans

Today, I discovered a libertarian weblog called "The Agitator". Yesterday, The Agitator's proprietor, a Mr. Radley Balko, posted an entry entitled "Big Government Republicans". This post links to a document located at the "Liberty Vault" website which enumerates "Hundreds of ways in which George W. Bush has contributed to the growth of government".

Another interesting read is Mr. Balko's post on foxnews.com, entitled "A Few Questions for the Vice Presidential Candidates". It is well known that Sen. Edwards made his fortune representing plaintiffs in tort cases, mostly in medical malpractice cases. He specialized particularly in seeking judgments for parents in cases of botched childbirth deliveries, which he claimed resulted in cases of cerebral palsy. However, there is very strong scientific evidence that cerebral palsy is not likely caused by delivery room errors, but rather by genetics or prenatal infections. No wonder there is a medical malpractice crisis, particularly for OB-GYN's. John Stossel's article entitled "Lawyers and the Little Guy" looks at Sen. Edwards' career as a plaintiff's attorney and examines the unintended consequences of the plaintiff's bar for our society and economy (hint: things aren't looking too good for the "little guy").
