This course examines the structure and functioning of the insurance markets with a particular emphasis on the property-liability industry. There are two primary goals of this course: (1) to familiarize students with the basic structure of these markets and the ways in which they differ from the markets of other industries: (2) to show students how the tools of applied economic theory, finance, and econometrics are used to investigate issues of specific interest in the insurance markets.
